The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is expanding its capabilities in optical interferometry for astrometry and synthetic imaging. New projects are underway or planned which will develop long baseline ground and space-based optical interferometers in support of the NASA ORIGINS program, whose objectives include exploring the origins of galaxies, stars, and planetary systems. These projects include linking the two large Keck telescopes into an interferometer, a 10 meter baseline Space Interferometer Mission (SIM), the New Millenium Deep Space 3 which will link three free-flying spacecraft, and a near-term precursor mission to SIM. These systems will provide milli-arc-second to micro-arc-second angular resolution and will require optical metrology with sub-nanometer relative accuracy. Candidates in the following areas should apply:
Flight hardware and software experience is highly desirable. Further
inquiries or applications should be directed to:
Applications should include a resume, a statement of citizenship and at least three references. | |
