The U.S. Naval Observatory has one or two 2-year, term (postdoctoral) positions available working with the group developing the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI). Those interested in supporting the efforts to analyze, and to increase the accuracy of, the wide-angle astrometric data are particularly encouraged to apply. However, those interested in work related to the completion and upgrading of the NPOI instrumentation and other data analysis projects are also encouraged to apply. These positions will be at the GS-12 level ($51,927 - $53,156, depending on location). U.S. citizenship is not required. These positions will be at USNO in Washington, DC or at the NPOI site in Flagstaff, AZ, depending on the area of effort. Applications under the Michelson Postdoctoral Fellowship are also welcome. If interested, please contact Dr. Ken Johnston at 202-762-1513. These positions will be available until filled.

More general information on the NPOI project is available at http://ad.usno.navy.mil/npoi/
