Refereed Papers in Astrophysics by Stellar Interferometry: 1997 and earlier

Here I list only the papers with astrophysical results from long-baseline stellar interferometers, which is to say interferometers that used physically separate telescopes. I therefore exclude papers by Michelson and all single-aperture techniques including speckle. I have not included "first-fringe" papers. I should probably include in this list papers by the Intensity Interferometer. Please contact me with suggested corrections.

This list is a more complete list than the one cited by Steve Ridgway on page 313 of Principles of Long Baseline Stellar Interferometry, and there are only 10 papers in 1997, not 11 as shown in his plot.

Interferometers that were publishing papers at the time included, the I2T, the Mark II, Mark III, GI2T, IRMA, IOTA, COAST, ISI, and NPOI.

My count of the papers published per year (excluding single-aperture interferometry) currently runs as follows: 2004 [27]; 2003 [15]; 2002 [11]; 2001 [13]; 2000 [12], 1999 [9]; 1998 [10]; 1997 [10]; 1996 [9]; 1995 [6]; 1994 [5]; 1993 [6.5]; 1992 [6]; 1991 [4]; 1990 [5]; 1989 [2]; 1988 [2]; 1987 [2]; 1986 [3]; 1985 [2]; 1984 [1]; 1983 [2]; 1981 [2]; 1979 [1]; 1977 [1.5]; 1974 [2]; 1971 [1]; 1970 [2]; 1968 [1]; 1967[2]; 1964 [1]; 1956 [1]. I counted "0.5" where a paper re-published the same material.

The notes under each entry allow me to summarize statistics for all papers using the Unix "grep" and "sort" utilities.
