Photographs of NPOI taken in October 1998
Photographs by Peter Lawson
These photos show detail in and around the astrometric piers at NPOI.
- Stereo pair of the center of the baseline (152 Kb).
- External view of one of the
Astrometric Huts
(48 Kb) with the top open and the tip/tilt mirror just visible
above the open door.
- I stood on a ladder with my head level with the tip/tilt mirror and took
this picture of Craig Dennison (55 Kb) standing beside the siderostat.
- The light from the siderostat is directed upwards to the tip/tilt mirror
and is then directed straight downward into the vacuum pipes. This picture
shows where the beam-reducing telescope (34 Kb) will be installed (on the beam that decends to
the bottom right corner) as well as the tip/tilt mirror at the top, and
the acquisition camera.
- Here is a close up of the tip/tilt mirror (43 Kb)
and acquisition camera.
